Cannon Hall Farm is a rural, family-run business in the lush green Pennine foothills of Barnsley, South Yorkshire.
Open to the public as an open farm tourist attraction since 1989, over the years the Nicholson family have gradually grown their business to include three on-site restaurants and one of the biggest and most celebrated Farm Shops in the UK
Cannon Hall Farm Shop started out in the 1990s with just two butchers and one small counter selling fresh beef, lamb and pork reared on the farm. Over the years, as its reputation grew for amazing taste and warm, friendly Yorkshire service, so did the Farm Shop. It now produces award winning pies, breads and pastries alongside a world class butcher’s counter, stocked full of flavourful Yorkshire meat reared just metres away on the family farm.
We’re a small-scale, traditional family farm and butchery and we still believe that doing things the traditional way delivers the very best product to your table.
Our livestock are reared traditionally on fresh Yorkshire pasture and in harmony with our natural environment, helping to enrich the soil of the fields they graze. We believe in taking our time to get the very best from our livestock, allowing them to grow naturally under the supervision of farmers who’ve dedicated their lives to working the land – there’s no shortcuts or quick fixes here.
Our meat is dry-aged – left under the supervision of our expert craft butchers to hang for just the right time to ensure we bring out the meat’s full natural flavour and tenderness. Our skilled butchery team are always working to offer customers a wide range of interesting and exciting products – from traditional cuts that deserve to be rediscovered, to exciting new flavours and styles that will help you add new dishes to your culinary repertoire.
